Captain Patrick Dziekan, a native of Ellison Bay, WI, enlisted in the Navy in 1990 as a Yeoman. He was commissioned in 1999 through the Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training (BOOST) Program. He is a graduate of The George Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History, and the U.S. Naval War College where he earned a Master of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies, and was also a member of the Halsey Group. He was designated a Naval Aviator in 2001.
CAPT Dziekan’s sea duty assignments include Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron (VAW)-116, deploying onboard USS CONSTELLATION (CV 64) and USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72) and VAW-121 deploying onboard USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69). He commanded VAW-123, also onboard EISENHOWER, where the “World Famous Screwtops” won back-to-back Battle ‘E’ Awards. During these tours, he deployed in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH, IRAQI FREEDOM, and ENDURING FREEDOM, as well as tsunami relief operations in Indonesia.
Ashore, CAPT Dziekan served as an instructor and Carrier Qualification Phase Head at the E-2/C-2 Fleet Replacement Squadron, VAW-120; as an Afghanistan/Pakistan Planner at Headquarters, U.S. Central Command; as Operations Director for U.S. Special Operations Command’s Joint Acquisition Task Force- TALOS; as Executive Assistant and Acting Chief of Staff to Commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic; and Commander, Fleet Activities Okinawa. He currently serves as the Chief of Staff for Joint Region Marianas and Naval Forces Marianas.
Captain Dziekan has over 500 carrier arrested landings and has accumulated over 3,500 flight hours. His personal decorations include the Legion of Merit (2), the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal (4 Strike/Flight awards), the Joint Commendation Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal (3, Combat “V”), the Navy Achievement Medal (2) as well as other individual, unit and campaign awards.
