The Navy Retention Excellence Award, established in 2003, recognizes commands that excel in retaining skilled and qualified personnel, ensuring Navy readiness. This prestigious award highlights outstanding leadership, professional development, and a supportive command environment that fosters Sailor satisfaction.

The Gold Retention Excellence Award Pennant, symbolizes the highest achievement in retention excellence. The gold color represents the exceptional efforts required to retain personnel, while the symbols reflect the Navy's commitment to readiness and the well-being of its Sailors.

This remarkable achievement is a direct result of the tireless hard work and dedication of the Command Career Counselor (CCC) team, along with NBG’s Division and Sectional Career Counselor Representatives, whose efforts have been instrumental in supporting and guiding Sailors in their careers.

Additionally, the Deckplate Leaders of U.S. Naval Base Guam have played a critical role in fostering a command climate that promotes retention through mentorship and leadership. Their collective commitment has ensured NBG remains a strong, motivated, and capable force.
