NAVAL BASE GUAM (Dec. 21, 2022) - Sailors and personnel from U.S. Naval Base Guam's (NBG) Post Office and Consolidated Mail Facility (CMF) are working through the peak holiday season, as they receive and prepare packages for delivery to NBG customers.
Holiday mail is typically received as early as October and as late as January, with more than 2,000 pieces of mail received and sorted through daily.
Once mail is received at NBG from the Barrigada Main Facility, the truck is unloaded. Each item is scanned before entering the postal facility for accountability. The mail is then sorted to include tenant commands and ship's mail. After the process is complete it is loaded into another truck to transport the ship's mail to the warehouse. Mail going to the ships is consolidated, placed on pallets, and prepared for delivery to the pier. Once it arrives at the pier, a manifest is signed affirming the package is delivered.
